The Safest & Most Effective Natural Purifier of Swimming Pool and Spa Water on Earth.
What is Ozone and how does it work?
Ozone (O3), also know as active oxygen, is a naturally occurring element. Just as the ozone in the earth’s atmosphere protects us from the sun’s harmful rays, ozone in your pool protects you from all known microorganisms, including bacteria and viruses in the water. It reduces traditional chemical (chlorine/bromine) use by up to 80%, also reducing overall chemical costs. Ozone won’t irritate your eyes , dry your skin, or fade swim wear. It even destroys oils, solids and other contaminants in the water, without causing any harmful byproducts. It has been used to purify water since the late 1800’s and in swimming pools & spas for over 50 years.
How is Ozone different to chlorine?
In the quantities needed for water purification, it has no noticeable odour, taste or colour. It is not irritating to humans or equipment. Ozone purifies water and air very quickly and efficiently, 3000 times faster than chlorine. Ozone leaves no byproducts except pure oxygen in contrast chlorine which leaves a chemical byproduct called hypochloric acid and additional salts in the water. Ozone is safe to use and the Eclipse range of ozone generators are sized to provide enough sanitation for residential use with a minimum of surplus ozone(if any). Ozone is is very gentle to humans and equipment in the water. You should never breathe concentrated ozone gas or any other pool chemical. Ozone will handle the bulk of sanitizing required, however due to its short life a small amount of sanitizer will be required to provide a residual. Ozone oxidizes the most microscopic of particals which are captured in the filter, this results in water of unmatched clarity. Notice the water clarity of Olympic pools during T.V. broadcasts.
How does Corona Discharge Ozone Generation work?
Ozone can be produced by ultraviolet light (UV) or by corona discharge (CD). CD generation is 3 times more concentrated therefore more effectively absorbed into the water flow before entering the pool. Ozone is produced by passing air through a high voltage electrical discharge or corona. Minimum of 5000 volts is necessary to create a corona. Similar in nature to when ozone is produced during a lightening strike. The ozone/gas mixture discharged from the corona normally contains from 1% to 3% ozone when using dry air and from 3% to 6% when using high purity oxygen as the gas feed.
